Blasta Brewery
Hospitality Design
From warehouse to wow. Blasta Brewery was a labour of love for our client who we joined on the journey from council approval to design and assisting through construction. Blasta brewery gets its proud unicorn branding from the founder’s Scottish background.
Blasta’s design inspiration draws from numerous sources, industrial warehouses, the beer halls of Germany and smaller craft bars in London. Seeking to create an alternative drinking destination; simply put Blasta is for the people. The project entailed the creation of a craft brewing zone, a commercial kitchen, an entirely new amenities facility, an independent café and the creation of an inviting outdoor space that includes a comprehensive sandpit for children.
The key elements were the creation of the substantial wrap around bar, drawing inspiration from quintessential brewing kettles this was designed with a copper top that will patina and age over time matched with its rouge concrete textured front. From any entrance the bar is distinguishable and anchors the vast open space.
One wall was designated and given to a local artist and plays into the warehouse vibe with its vibrant imagery sharing stories of Burswood, Blasta and beyond. Beside this artwork is home to a custom wrap around standing or seating area, crafted of solid timber giving warmth to this zone.
Outside in the alfresco, an elongated pergola was designed with large picnic style tables residing under, this area is wisely located adjacent to the children’s sandpit creating a natural family area. The use of mature trees in the alfresco enabled the space to be softened and delivers natural shading, this also enabled the creation timber joinery seating that’s frames the trees.
